How to Take Better Pictures

By: Stephanie Lopez

Grabbing someone's attention online can be as easy as posting a picture. Whether that picture is eye catching because it is a great photo or a bad one can all be dependent on how that picture was taken. A great photo doesn't always entail you to going out and buying a $300+ camera, a device you use on the daily such as your mobile phone can do the trick with the right help! Taking a photo may seem like the simplest thing to do with just a push of a button, but it can involve so much more than that. A good quality photo is tailored around the accessories, lighting, background and angles used.

It's all about the accessories!

Using additional tools such as phone camera accessories can really take your photo from being good to great. Items like camera lenses or tripods can help give your photos extra flair and consistency. There are numerous different lenses to temporarily attach to your phone that can come at an affordable price. Check out these lenses that cost less than $10 by clicking here. A tripod can help with stability and making sure you get the clearest picture possible. Extra accessories such as these can become costly, but there are several options to help you score low costs! Like this tripod I found from amazon

LIGHTS... camera, action!

Another key factor in a compelling image is the lighting that the picture is taken in. Typically, you want to make sure the shots you take are receiving natural light such as outside or by a window. If for some reason you are unable to photograph in natural light, artificial light can also work if you work around where the light faces what you are wanting to capture.

Backgrounds for beginners

When taking photos of products, you want to make sure you don't have any added background noise such as messy backgrounds, people in the way or anything that can distract the viewer from the focal point of your product. Depending on how you want to showcase your product, a solid background is ideal in order to gain more attention on what you are featuring.

Work those angles!

Angles can be a great way to add dimension to your photos. It can take your product from looking flat to having depth and accentuating its features to their fullest potential. Trying to exhibit products on a 2D format can be tricky, but with the use of angles it can be helpful for viewers to get the full extent of the product. A few angle examples you can use can be seen here.

Before thinking a picture is as simple as a click, think about these four elements that can make or break the outcome of the photo you take. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
