5 Easy Ways to Build Your Brand

BY VICTORIA MARTINEZ
So you have a great business idea and decide to become your own CEO. Creating your new company from the ground up may already feel like A LOT of work. Then you realize you still need to brand your new company! But what is branding? and how do you implement a brand? As our best friend Google puts it, "a brand is a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name". Thanks Google, but this still doesn't help us understand what branding actually entails.

Branding is more than just a logo. It's a story about what your company does and what your company stands for. Now more than ever, consumers are seeing the value in companies and their stories. So, when implementing a brand for your business, why not tell a great story? It's easy!
Below are 5 easy ways to build your brand.

1. Define Your Company

Who are you? What does your company do? Do you solve a problem? Provide a service? Start out by answering these questions. Then ask yourself what questions other people might have about your business and answer those. By laying out the foundation of your company, you are creating your brand from your roots. (Which is always the best part of a story!) Through this, you will begin to start seeing your brand come to life, but you're not done yet!

2. Understand Your Target Audience

This is where you start to think and ask questions about your customers. Who exactly are your customers? Start with your product/service and then work your way through all the questions. For example, if I am starting a retail store, am I making clothes for men, women, both? Are these clothes following new fashion trends? Are they children's clothes or maternity clothes? Then I can choose how broad I want my target audience to be. Am I targeting 16-25 year olds? 40-70 year olds? Maybe 0-3 year olds? Knowing your target audience will help you immensely when you begin marketing.

3. Create Brand Awareness

Now that you know who you are and who you're selling to, how will you follow through with the sale? Get your brand name out there so everyone knows about your business and what you have to offer! One of the best ways to communicate with your target audience is with promotional products. 91% of consumers have at least one promotional product in their kitchen and 82.6% of people can recall the company and brand on their promotional product! With statistics like these, there is no reason not to purchase some promotional products for your company. Everyone loves free items, so why not put your logo on it? Not only will this create strong brand awareness, but it will also increase your networking opportunities.

4. Connect With Your Customer

This step is all about communication. Networking with people in your community and creating social media pages all happens within this step. Attending events in your area is a great starting place to network and let people know about your new brand! Then begin to create some social media accounts. There are no excuses to not create these accounts because they're all FREE! When creating these accounts for your business, the most important thing to remember is follow everyone and post often. Not only does this show your followers that your active, but it also creates communication between them and you. And they don't even have to get out of bed!

5. Never Stop Building!

Lastly, always continue building your brand! Continuing to understand who your target audience is and what they enjoy is essential in keeping your business growing! Never stop networking and promoting your brand as your business continues to grow, because you never know who might be searching for you!

Although you may feel overwhelmed with everything business life throws your way, building your brand should flow smoothly! Remembering to communicate with your target audience and tell a story about your company will encourage your customers to repeat the story to their family and friends. This will then begin to generate more brand awareness for your company and in turn, create more sales!
